Marie Leavitt of ServPro offers advice on disinfecting. It is a 2-step process, first you must clean with soap and water, then use an EPA-registered disinfectant according to the manufacturers’ instructions, which vary by product. Bleach has an expiration date and will not disinfect effectively after that date. Also, color-safe bleach is not a disinfectant.
